Gala Evening from the NAB (New Aargau Bank), 19 November 2016 with the handing over of a Check worth 29'500 Swiss Francs Even just hearing the news that our organization was chosen to receive a donation at the gala evening from the NAB was a very wonderful surprise. A dear acquaintance had secretly proposed our association, and as a result, kindergardens4senegal, as well as two other project were chosen from 70 participatin projects. I was told, that they wanted to have more information about me and my work and that I should reserve the 19 November for the handing over of the check. That was the reason why I had returned to Switzerland so quickly after arriving in Senegal. (Contrary to the Aargauerin / Aargauer of the Year, the chosen projects weren't allowed to be named before the gala evening, for the sake of the surprise). The more I started to realize how big this event was going to be, the more excited I became. And I must say that last night exceeded all my expectations by far. At 4:30 PM the "Umweltarena" in Spreitenbach started filling up with guests, and in the end there were about 1'400 people in attendance. The beautiful and lavish decorations and the organization of the whole event were overwhelming. My Mother Klare Furter, as well as Heinz Keller from our board and our former president Werner Brunner accompanied me to this event. Suitably dressed up to the nines, we enjoyed the evening, impressed by the effort put into this evening. Our personal highlight was after 9:00 PM when the amount of the donation (doubled by the NAB) was named. Together with two other project Managers I was allowed onto the stage and could accept a check from Roland Herrmann, CEO NEUE AARGAUER BANK AG, with the respectable sum of 29'500 Swiss Francs. A truly proud amount, and this donation will insure the financing of a second kindergarten. Sven Epinez let me tell the other guests what exactly we will be using this wonderful donation for. It was a very special moment, standing in front of 1'400 people who benevolently support us and value our work. It was a truly unforgettable moment. Many other small encounters have also strengthend my intent. The strength and motivation will accompany me, when I fly back to Senegal on 23 November. I feel supported by the trust that I felt at that memorable evening. Greetings,Marielle Furter |
