News from Senegal, March 2020
As could be seen in the last video from January 2020, the running of the kindergarten in Goudiabya continues to develop positively. Except, that starting tomorrow, the children here will also have no more school due to the corona virus and therefore will have Easter holidays one week early. The realization of our construction projects is going according to plan and we are happy that we have already been able to renovate one toilet since mid-February and to build new toilets in two other schools. We are currently on the fourth school, where we are building two more kindergarten rooms, including toilets, in addition to the sole classroom. |

We are really lucky to have Ablaye Thian, a bricklayer from Dakar. He carried out the work in the last stage of construction in Goudiabya to our utmost satisfaction, even better and faster than expected. He really is the only bricklayer and master builder in whom we have full confidence in terms of quality and work attitude. And once again he has proved his skills and his great experience in the building sector. He has absolute correct behavior as well as a golden heart and he loves his work more than anything else. Well, almost everything... just the day before yesterday his wife gave birth to his 10th child, a boy. ? So now he gets to have a few days of paternity leav. |

I booked my flight a little earlier this year, so that I can get a head start to take care of the various club activities in Switzerland as early as mid-May. But travels are very hard to plan at the moment. Elhadji had also started the first steps for a visa, but it's probably a bad time for that. We hope very much that we will meet you in early summer in a more pleasant situation and that the spread of this flu will be largely contained by then. With this in mind, Elhadji and I, as well as our team from kindergardens4senegal, wish you and your family all the best and above all the best of health. Greetings, Marielle |
