Waltenschwil project week: Children Help Children
A Big Surprise at the Handing Over of the Check in the Kindergarten of Waltenschwil
by Marielle Furter
I am always especially happy, when we receive a donation from a school project. The children don't just wholeheartedly show interest in helping others, they also start to realize that they do have a lot of toys and that this is not the case for all of the children around the world. This is why Mrs. Eveline Häusermann oranized a kiosk during the 'Project-Week' of the kindergarten in Waltenschwil, where snacks could be bought during recess. I was extremely surprised, when a check for Fr. 1'222.20 was handed over to me. This remarkable amount will be used for the next playground. A huge thank-you goes to Eveline Häusermann, all of the other teachers and children, as well as everyone who bought snacks at the kiosk. Detailed Report I was very pleased, when Mrs. Eveline Häusermann told me, that the children who are in their first year of kindergarten will be making delicious snacks in their 'Project-Week' to sell at a kiosk, that was set up at the school during recess. The proceeds would then be donated to our organization in favor of our kindergartens in Senegal. Eveline Häusermann invited me to her kindergarten to hand over the check. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the amount! Fr. 1'222.20, that really is a remarkable! |

It was also very wonderful to see how interested the children were in the pictures that I had brought with me of the children and country side in Senegal. The children were also impressed by my colorful Senegalese clothes. We also sang a Senegalese welcome song together. As a thank-you from me, I surprised the children with "Bissab", a beverage made of red hibiscus. The children really enjoyed the sweet, raspberry red juice. At the end of my visit, I explaned to the children what the money they donated would be used for, when I get back to Senegal. They were very pleased to hear, that thanks to their donation, we can build a cool playground in the village Koudiabya, were our next kindergarten is planned. We will buy two slides, three swings and lots of toys for playing in the sand. I want to say thank-you to all of the teachers of the kindergarten in Waltenschwil for their great effort. A special thank-you goes to Mrs. Eveline Häusermann who had this wonderful idea and of course to all of the hard-working children and everyone who visited the kiosk. With high regard, Marielle Furter
